Amy loved riding horses as a young girl, and when she graduated from Dental School, she picked it back up as a hobby. She fell in love with attending shows, specifically competing in the reining discipline with her Quarter Horses. She met Jody through some equine friends at a show, as he was a judge and trainer, and sparks began to fly as they bonded over their love of horses. They attempted long distance for a bit, and they then decided they wanted to live in the same place and be together. Amy decided to sell her dental practice and move to Oklahoma. They now run Jody’s farm together, and the way Amy speaks of her life with her animals and Jody, we completely understand her choice to make the leap and move to Oklahoma.
The couple decided on Santa Fe for their destination wedding. Having been there only once before, they remembered the town as being romantic and charming and thought where could be a more perfect place to say I do? With only 10 guests in attendance, they said their vows overlooking the mountains as the sun began to set in a beautifully intimate ceremony. We were able to take pictures with their adorable King Charles Spaniel, Porter, who was happy to make the trip to Santa Fe to see his humans get married. Afterwards everyone headed back up to the cozy fireplace room inside the Four Seasons for a yummy dinner complete with champagne and cake.
We were so honored that Amy and Jody chose us to capture their day. It felt like we had known them for years as we chatted, shared our love for horses, and laughed at Jody’s jokes as we strolled around Santa Fe. Congratulations to you both and we hope our paths cross again soon!
