David and Kaitlin were introduced through their two mutual friends, both of whom knew immediately that the pair needed to meet each other. Their friends set up a dinner for them at Zacateca’s in Albuquerque, and the couple instantly became enraptured in one another!
While on a vacation with David’s family in Cape Cod, he insisted that Kaitlin take a walk with him, his sister, and his sister’s boyfriend. Soon Kaitlin began to notice the rest of their party lagging behind and stopped to politely wait for them, when David surprised her by telling her he loved her and getting down on one knee. Obviously, she said yes!
They both decided that they wanted a wedding with the most elegant touches of autumn, going for navy, burgundy, and gold, and had her bouquet containing unique features such as dried pods and thistles, as opposed to the obvious fall themes of pumpkins and sunflowers.
Kaitlin also knew that she wanted to include intimate details. She wore pearl earrings belonging to her great-grandmother, whom Kaitlin was named after, and the lace they used in the hand fasting ceremony had been in her family for generations: it was a part of her great-grandmother’s dress when she was married in 1910, and then the lace was sewn onto her grandmother’s dress when she was married in 1948! We absolutely loved the history and deep meaning behind it!
The ceremony location they chose was Tamaya, situated just in front of the stunning cottonwoods. The guests tossed rose petals over the couple as they retreated back down the aisle, resulting in the most whimsical, romantic shots. For sunset, we stole the couple, hopped on a golf cart, and raced to the incredible red mesas that were also on the property. The pair twirled in fields of beautiful yellow wildflowers, savoring the special moment before returning to their party.
Cutmaster started the reception with a bang, immediately getting everybody on the dancefloor, and kept them there the rest of the night. This wedding party could dance!
Overall, it was a breathtaking wedding from start to finish, and we couldn’t have been happier to shoot it! Kaitlin and David were so sweet, and we wish them the utmost happiness in their years of marriage to come!
