We met with Bianca and Anthony, along with their adorable furbabies, last July for their engagement session. Not only were Hickory and Dexter included for pictures, but they were the key point in Anthony’s proposal— which, of course, we love! It was NYE, and the couple went to their favorite restaurant. While there, Bianca received a notification that the alarm at their house had been set off, and she was understandably worried and wanted to check on things. Anthony managed to take her mind off it and proceed with the night, though… so little did she know, but he had had the neighbors sneak (poorly, but sneak haha), into their home and dress up the dogs in preparation for their return home. Once Bianca saw the dogs in white bandanas with “Will your marry my dad?” written on them, she turned to see Anthony on one knee. The rest is history!
They were planning a larger wedding originally at La Posada. But, as in the fashion of 2020 onward, plans were subject to change. Last Saturday, on a chilly February morning, we arrived at Hotel Albuquerque to capture Bianca’s getting ready photos. She looked absolutely stunning from the get-go, and we knew that once she donned her amazing lace wedding dress, she would be positively glowing.
Their first look took place outside between the arbors of what will soon be resurrected wisteria and the hotel’s beautiful courtyard fountain. It was breezy, but with the sun peeking out to watch the couple have their sweet first look moment, it appeared the weather of the day would be on our side. Hickory, the pair’s absolutely adorable and very, VERY good yellow lab, joined us for pictures in her amazing flower collar, (courtesy of Floral Fetish), and almost— but not quite— stole the show.
Then it was time to head to the ceremony location. As we drove to a family friend’s private residence for the ceremony and intimate reception, the weather took a turn for the worst. While it only rained briefly and lightly later in the evening, the wind was determined to make its presence known. With extra strong gusts that gave an icy bite, guests bundled in provided blankets to watch the beautiful ceremony as the couple exchanged their vows… with Bianca in merely her short sleeved wedding dress! We’re now convinced she has super powers.
Even though the weather wasn’t quite cooperating, the two still had an absolutely magical evening, with twinkle lights providing a romantic and relaxing atmosphere, and all of their close friends and family (who could come) by their sides’. Toasts were especially emotional, and you could tell this couple is positively adored by those closest to them. There was even a video from Bianca’s childhood best friend, who was unable to attend, that had everyone laughing and then in tears as it was played on the tv.
To end the evening, the couple organized a sparkler exit— luckily the wind had died enough that we were able to do it— and then returned inside for cake… which was hilarious (scroll down to see the sequence showing why hehe).
We’re so glad we were able to work with this sweet couple (and of course Hickory) on their big day, and we wish them years upon years of happiness!
