Liz and Kayvan met in high school; however, this had little to do where their love story began. They shared mutual friends that they kept in touch with over the years and one day Liz decided to tag along with her friend Yvette to a kickball game. Here Kayvan and Liz were reacquainted and became fast friends. Liz wasn’t looking for a relationship, but Kayvan was so smitten with her that after many conversations over wine and doing his best to show off his charm, she finally fell.
Fast forward to last year: Kayvan mentioned to Liz that he would really like to hike Wheeler’s peak in Taos. He encouraged her to buy hiking shoes and start training, since it was a pretty difficult hike. Their summer became very busy and Liz just didn’t understand why Kayvan kept insisting they do the hike this year. They finally found a weekend that worked, and off to Taos they went. During the hike, Liz was exhausted, freezing, and starving, so she sat down once they reached the peak to have a snack. Kayvan asked her to come look at the view… and this is where he explained why this hike meant so much to him and why he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. He got down on one knee and asked for her hand, and Liz of course said yes!
Once wedding planning began, Liz and Kayvan planned to have a massive wedding in the fall at the Hyatt Downtown. Kayvan comes from a large Kurdish family, so they talked of having upwards of 200-300 guests. COVID quickly diminished their plans, and Liz was left scrambling trying to decide what to do. The couple finally decided on a very intimate wedding at Girlie Bird, and all of the elegant touches that Liz included had us just swooning. From her beautiful jewel tone color palette to her drop dead gorgeous bouquet of dahlias, ranunculus and anemones, every touch was so thoughtful. Liz and Kayvan of course included their adorable Old English bulldog, Franklin, in the ceremony and bridal party portraits, and he pretty much stole the show. We also loved the Kurdish touches that Kayvan’s family included, such as: throwing candy and coins over the newlyweds for good luck, sweetness, and fortune, and all the incredibly fun dancing that took place after dinner.
Congrats Liz and Kayvan, you have been absolutely so wonderful to work with. We wish you both the very best in life and so many years of happiness together!
