Some love stories are so beautiful, they deserve to be celebrated twice—and that’s exactly what Maura and Brandon did during their breathtaking vow renewal in Playa del Carmen, Mexico.
Brandon and Maura met twenty years ago in downtown Santa Fe while both were working summer jobs on their college breaks. They didn’t know it then, but their quick friendship would develop into so much more. A marriage, 2 dogs, a house, and 1 kiddo later, they decided to renew their vows after 10 years of marriage. What started off as a trip to their favorite vacation spot in Mexico with just the two of them, snowballed into an intimate ceremony and reception with their closest family and friends.
From the perfect weather to the stunning resort, everything aligned beautifully to create a truly unforgettable celebration. Maura searched high and low for the perfect dress. She wanted to wear blue, which is her favorite color and to match the ocean. While searching, she stumbled across an off the shoulder embroidered gown she ended up choosing as she felt it was the perfect fit for a Mexican celebration. Their invitations were hand drawn by the amazing team at Funky Olive Design with blue watercolor talavera tiles and matching envelopes that looked like the different colors of the sea. Maura’s Loeffer Randall heels matched the invitations and the blue embroidery in her dress perfectly, and she tied her look together with aquamarine and opal earrings, Brandon and Mahlia’s birthstones, given to her by her mother.
The colorful florals were a nod to the tropical celebration with pink anthurium and ginger. The ceremony arch even donned giant hanging lobster claws and vibrant pink and orange roses with bamboo chairs for guests to find their seats. Brandon and Maura recited handwritten vows to each other while the officiant conducted the ceremony from the back, allowing their daughter to take center stage as she clung to Maura’s side.
For the reception, their guests dined a la fresco atop a rooftop overlooking the ocean. They were greeted with small wooden alebrije favors, a yummy pink tropical signature drink, and the most breathtaking views you’ve ever seen. Of course a cotton candy sunset crashed the party, reflecting beautifully in the pool. Following dinner, everyone enjoyed churros and music into the night.
Maura and Brandon’s vow renewal wasn’t just a celebration of their years together; it was a reminder that love deserves to be celebrated loudly, boldly, and surrounded by the people who make your life the most special. It was like the entire day was a love letter to Mexico, bursting with bold colors at every turn. Here’s to Maura and Brandon, proving that when it comes love, one party just isn’t enough. Cheers to a lifetime of sunsets, memories , and dancing through life together!
