Amber + Ryan | Fall Durango Wedding at Purgatory Resort | Colorado Wedding Photographers

Destination weddings are some of our favorite weddings to do, hands down. And last week’s ceremony at Purgatory Resort in Colorado was no exception!

Amber and Ryan were both flight paramedics when they met each other by chance. Ryan worked in Denver, while Amber worked in Albuquerque. She often flew to Denver, and as luck would have it, they continued to run into each other. He eventually reached out to her through Facebook, and their relationship took off!

When he proposed, Ryan took her back to the airport where they met. And, as romantic as that is, it only gets better! He then took her onto the tarmac, where he proceeded to get down on one knee in the sea of parked airplanes. Of course, she said yes!

They chose the Boyce Ceremony Site at Purgatory Ski Resort, and it felt like they had their own private forrest for their ceremony. Golds and tangerines had swept through the mountains already, painting many of the couple’s pictures in autumn hues. The amber leaves provided the perfect background for a good majority of their photos, and the pines and mountains made the ceremony absolutely picturesque. We were dying over the scenery the entire time!

Amber’s cousin, whom she grew up with and considers to be like a brother to her, performed the ceremony and married the pair. The personal stories of Amber and Ryan had everyone attending in-between laughter and tears the whole time. As they retreated down the aisle with their backs to the stunning mountains, burgundy rose petals were tossed over the newlyweds, resulting in even more breathtaking photos.

The night ended in toasts, laughter, and lots of dancing. Amber had also previously taught dance lessons, and it definitely showed as Ryan twirled her around the room during their first dance.

This was such a striking wedding, and it was such a joy to be there for Amber and Ryan’s special day! We wish them the best!
