Katherine grew up figure skating. James grew up playing hockey. So while Katherine’s best friend tried for months to set them up, she knew that an iceskating rink would be the perfect first date. Katherine and James hit it off right away! Katherine was in her last year of law school in Boston, and James was working in California. They made the distance work and when Katherine went out to visit, James seized the opportunity and proposed!
The pair has since moved to New Mexico and chose the stunning Los Poblanos to host their wedding.
The bridal party wore navy and gray with touches of pink. Katherine’s stunning A-line bridal gown was adorned with lace and an illusion back with buttons. Her bouquet was simple and classic, consisting of beautiful garden roses.
Their ceremony took place in front of the historic properties iconic white doors, while the guests chairs were decorated with garland and pink and white roses and peonies. As the couple said their “I do’s” and made their way back up the aisle their friends and family showered the happy couple in rose petals.
The reception was full of heartfelt details. Katherine’s grandfather made all their furniture growing up, so he made them a card box for their wedding and to keep as a forever memory of their special day. Each table was “numbered” with one of their favorite books, such as Pride and Prejudice, and The Princess Bride. The tables were lined with greenery and roses to continue the colors and themes into the reception. To match the theme of Classic Literature, the couple’s cake topper was an adorable silhouette of a couple holding books.
We have the sweetest couples, and Katherine and James were no exception! We wish you two all the best!
