Erica + Elliot | A Denver Elopement | Colorado Wedding

Erica and Elliot met in Boulder through mutual friends. After dating for a while, Elliot’s job moved him to Los Alamos and Erica, being a graphic designer, was able to work remotely, so she followed him to New Mexico. They found a place in Santa Fe, and one day Elliot got down on one knee with a beautiful cotton candy Land of Enchantment sunset behind them to ask for Erica’s hand. Let the wedding planning begin!

Being they wanted their friends and family to experience the neat new town they lived in, these Colorado natives opted for a bash in downtown Santa Fe. They chose December due to their love of winter, and Erica picked stunning hues of winter grays, blues, and dusty pinks. However, their wedding planning came to an abrupt halt when they realized COVID was not going away anytime soon.

Rolling with the punches, the couple decided to have a very intimate wedding in Telluride and rented a massive cabin where their closest family members could join them. Erica was excited to have photos in the snow and mountains, and to capture beautiful downtown Telluride. She remained positive and upbeat as she continued to plan her dream day.

As the month of November arrived, so did a huge spike in COVID cases, and Erica’s family began to worry about traveling to Telluride for the wedding. After giving it a lot of thought, the couple decided that having an intimate backyard elopement at Erica’s family home in Denver would be the safest for all.

However, just because it switched to a backyard didn’t mean that Erica and Elliot spared any details. They had the most gorgeous custom arch that was made with a piece of aspen tree from Santa Fe, along with a woven macrame backdrop by Erica’s sister. Erica had the most jaw dropping dyed bouquets by Florecita full of hydrangeas, lavender and desert sun palms. It was the perfect nod towards the New Mexico wedding that was originally supposed to take place. Erica wore a stunning Leanne Marshall gown with a hand painted skirt in hues of blue and grey, and we were obsessed with how beautiful it flowed in the golden sunlight. The family drank Gruet champagne and sat around the patio with blankets and heaters while we whisked the couple away to a nearby pond for photos.

It was the most perfect day, and we were so happy that Erica and Elliot chose to have us be a part of it. We can’t wait until the big bash next year!
