Trendy + Timeless | A White Rock Styled Shoot

When one pictures New Mexico, they envision our large desert landscapes. Red mesas towering over cacti and yucca with the most stunning sunsets you have ever seen in the distance. The culture and style of New Mexico is one that is truly unique. From the cowboy southwestern influences to the Native American prints and beautiful turquoise jewelry, there is something that almost anyone can appreciate. When I think of the style of our photography, I think of classic elegance with hints of whimsical and romantic. I gravitate towards light architecture and ethereal florals, cotton candy skies and slight pops of color. I decided it was time to combine my love of the timeless and classic with the edgy and more hipster trends that are so prevalent in New Mexico.

Monique and Thomas’ engagement session was very edgy, taking place in the red rocks of New Mexico. Their wedding was very elegant with gold and blush tones. So we knew that they would be prefect couple for our shoot.Monique wore a soft light pink tulle skirt with a flowing train. Her top was simple nude and lace and she paired it with beautiful turquoise earrings, the perfect pop of color. Thomas wore suspenders over his white button down shirt with no jacket. His look was finished with a custom local made artisan leather hat. The one of a kind piece was a light gray with white leather wrapped around the base.The chosen location lies along side a bike path in the New Mexico wilderness. The stark white rocks provided the perfect backdrop to show off Monique’s skirt and her bouquet. The flowers were as bright and bold as you could imagine. Yellow wildflowers paired with classic roses along side dessert protea and even a pinneaple. The bouquet was wrapped in blush and ivory silk ribbons, as Thomas’ boutonniere was wrapped in a yellow velvet ribbon.

We ended the night with a quick hike up the rocks for some of the best views of the breathtaking New Mexico landscapes and the famous sunsets. And yes, even a rainbow.
